What exactly is a LokBuddy City Decoding Walk?

It is a relaxed private city walk with a prepared route, a connected story, playful tasks made for that route and a matched Local Buddy. You take part and notice the city first; your Buddy then connects what you discover with history, everyday life and the way Shanghai works today.

Am I paying for a secret map?

No. The places are real public landmarks and local transport, not hidden locations invented for marketing. The value comes from how the route, historical material, tasks and Local Buddy turn those places into one designed experience.

Is this a traditional guided tour?

No. Your Buddy does not rush through a fixed script or lecture continuously. They are prepared for this route, join the tasks, answer questions and share one real local perspective while you walk at a more natural pace.

What can I talk to my Local Buddy about?

Your Buddy joins you as a real local friend, not a scripted guide. Ask what they genuinely like to eat or drink, where locals relax, what everyday life feels like, what a custom means, or anything else you are curious about. They join the tasks, help when language or local routines feel unfamiliar, and share their own honest perspective—not a rehearsed guidebook answer. They do not have to know everything; you can ask, look and discover together. You may begin as strangers and leave as real friends.

Can I choose my Buddy?

No. LokBuddy matches a suitable Buddy based on the route, date and group needs. Contact us at least seven days in advance if you have a concern about the match; a replacement remains subject to availability.

Do I have to complete every task?

No. The tasks add curiosity, participation and fun; they are not tests. You can ask for a hint, spend longer on something interesting, or skip a task when you want to rest or keep moving.

Is the route suitable for children, older guests or mobility needs?

The route is about 3.5 km and includes walking, conditional museum access and public ferry travel. Tell us specific walking, rest or mobility needs before booking. We will assess the real route conditions rather than claim that one route suits everyone.

Will we enter the Shanghai Postal Museum?

Museum entry is not guaranteed. The museum is normally open 09:00–17:00, with last admission at 16:00, and is closed on Mondays. Your selected time, holiday hours or a temporary closure may prevent entry. If that happens, the route continues using the prepared exterior content.

How early do I need to book?

Reservations must be submitted at least 48 full hours before the selected start time, calculated in China Standard Time (Asia/Shanghai).

What is not included in the price?

The public ferry fare, meals, drinks, optional admission, transport to the meeting area or from the ending area, and personal purchases are paid separately by the guest. There are no required shopping stops.

What happens if the ferry cannot operate?

Weather, construction or transport disruption may require a route adjustment. LokBuddy will explain the real situation and confirm the feasible next step; we will not pretend the city always follows the original plan. Any cancellation or refund is handled under the published Refund Policy.
